Powers Boothe, décédé ce dimanche à l’âge de 68 ans, a notamment incarné le vice-président Noah Daniels dans la saison 6 de la série 24 Heures chrono. Dernièrement, il apparaissait au casting de la série Agent Marvel : Les agents du S.H.I.E.L.D. Au cinéma, on se souviendra également de Powers Boothe dans U-Turn aux côtés de Sean Penn et Jennifer Lopez ou encore de Robert De Niro et Cuba Gooding Junior dans Les Chemins de la liberté.
Sa disparition a provoqué un vif émoi à Hollywood. Sur Twitter, acteurs et réalisateurs ont partagé leur peine et leur admiration pour cet acteur qui, en 1980, avait été récompensé par un Emmy Award pour son rôle dans Guyana Tragedy : the Story of Jim Jones.
Une distinction qu’il était allé chercher en personne alors que la profession avait boycotté l'événement dans le cadre d'une grève de Screen Actors Guild. "C'est le moment le plus courageux de ma carrière ou le plus stupide", a-t-il déclaré en acceptant le prix, selon le magazine TIME.
